For those of you who have dealt with this stuff, How did you get rid of it? I had some come in last fall, absolutely no clue where it came from as I had never seen nor had it before. It produces tons of seeds so I figure this spring it's popping up all over again. Should I put down a pre emerge now to stop the seeds from coming up ? Or will that keep my buck wheat and sunflower seeds from coming up when I plant in May? Should I wait until green up and spray the whole field with Gly and 2 4D? Just looking for advice. Thank you!

You're going to need to mechanically remove it, roots and all, improve the health of your soil, then put down a food-safe pre-emergent weed preventer.

just nuke it with 24d and gly before it produces seed to start with and see how that goes.
I am not sure how long the plantback time is for buckwheat after using a preemergent.

That's what I was thinking! Hit it hard when green shows and then if anything else green comes up hit it again. Lol. Then plant my buckwheat first week of May and hope it works .

Pre- emergents vary by soil temp, tillage, soil moisture then sensitivity of the non target species.

If you're planting a dove field, I'd consider a round or 2 of millet. Shorter season so you can plant later and you can control broadleaf weeds over the top with selective herbicides
