Remington 700s can be swapped to a Savage style barrel in pretty much the same manner (adjusting headspace with the barrel nut) buy you'll play hell getting the original barrel off with those 2 pieces of wood and a couple C-Clamps :grin:

Yes I've noticed the same for Remington also. I'm sure that factory barrel is super tight. [emoji2]
 
Good info. And the precision recoil lug is well worth the money.
Lots of good videos on how to do this.

I was hoping to be able to rebarrel my 300WM Model 116 myself, but Savage wouldn't sell me the barrel directly.
 
Hopefully after I buy a house I'll have the room and tools to do the barrel swap. Until then I'll work on a reason to swap mine out lol
