Funky Rack

I've had this buck on camera all season but he finally gave me an up close and personal view of his rack.

It appears to be damaged early in the antler development and it looks like his skull is damaged around the pedicle. Thoughts?

Pedicle definitely damaged, cant believe he has lived as bad as it looks, cool buck

Looks like he needs a bullet to solve his problems. I think that would make a cool looking mount.

Unfortunately, skull plate fractures are usually fatal over time. Bacteria gets in through the break and produces a fatal brain abscess.

Which is very unfortunate for this buck. He appears to be a very healthy 2.5 yo with a typical 10 point frame on the good side.

Looks like he grew this rack after the injury, which could date the injury to lasr year. Doesn't that indicate it has healed up enough to put him in ghe clear?

Perhaps. You never know. But I've sure seen a bunch of nasty brain abscesses on bucks that have cracked their skull plate at some time in the past.
