Been reading up on the guidelines for the Ft. Seems pretty upfront. What are the mistakes a newcomer might make be it in violation of rules or just common courtesies. I am thinking about taking a week off work this year and head up there. Don't want to break any rules or piss anyone off.

Be familiar with what roads you can and cannot drive on make sure you have all your paperwork and the right licenses. Gun must be unloaded and cased when transporting in vehicle and it has to be registered. That is some of the rules a new person would be caught doing in my opinion but just because you're new doesn't mean they won't fine and/or suspend you

Carry your proof of hunter ed, state hunting license, weapon registration, and area assignment with you when you when hunting.

Make sure you have your big game tag by the applicable weapon you are hunting with...big game gun if using shotgun or big game muzzleloader when using muzzleloader or big game archery if using a bow.

Tag your deer with the temp tag before you transport to the check station.

Thanks for all the responses. I will keep these things in mind. I think I may hit it up the last week of the season. I should have time off for Christmas.
