We are a work in progress and learning more about new property every day as this is only our second season here. Yesterday we decided to rotate our stand about 80 degrees so it would face an area we most often see deer coming from. We also removed a ground blind from the area thinking we might of over crowded it. Spent 3 hours on the area yesterday. I thought we might of messed up the area with enough scent to scare off any deer for a couple of days. This morning wife tried to talk me into sitting in the stand but I just didnt have a good feeling or was being lazy (most likely lazy)
Suggested she go and just sit and learn. 10 minutes after this one came within 15 yards of her. Of course she didn't have the crossbow, lol
She might not of shot it anyhow as we have seen bigger ones in the same area

This reminds me of the saying "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me". I've learned the hard way, as many others I've read about on here, to never go out, even scouting, during season wo a weapon. ;)
 
BTW, he was part of a group of 5 bucks that came through last Friday. The rest of the group hasn't been seen since. Wife and I both decided to shoot only does during archery unless it was a monster buck. And now the does are non existent.
Like I said, it's a learning process.
 
We have seen some absolute monsters in the same area. Wife said she would of passed on this one to wait for a bigger one. But you all know the drill, sometimes we pass only to regret it later. Time will tell

Also ask Catman. Never go track a deer without a weapon :lol:
 
I've seen a couple of whoppers while scouting around during season that would have been easy shots if I'd just have had my rifle with me.

Hang tough snowwolfe. Your work and trigger restraint will pay off.
 
The change from 3 bucks to 2 is working! Otherwise one of us would of had the bow on the stand. We are both dedicated rifle hunters so with 2.5 months left choose to be picky. Just wish the does would show up as last year we were over run with them.
