Fruit tree question for your yard

My father-in-law has a 2 acre field behind his green house that he is wanting to plant fruit trees in. He wants apples,peach and pears. My question is from all of your experience,what would be the best to plant for the most fruit and longest growing season. He will be making apple butter and preserves if that makes a difference.

Sounds like you guys have a good project in the works. I'm working a similar project planting apple, cherry, fig, peach, pear, and plum trees from Jesse Roberts Nursery in McMinnville. He gave me a variety of tree types for cross-polination and to stagger the fruit harvest periods. His prices are very affordable. He'll probably discount even more if you're buying a lot of trees.

If he is willing to put some work into it(spraying, training, etc) then I would have different answers than if he just wants low maintenance. If Im growing for the home, Im starting with dwarf rootstocks. After that, the varieties will depend on the maintenance level he wants.
