I have mixed it with playground sand that is typically very dry..
Or put seed rate on hand spreader very low and walk very fast...
Frost seeding is very rewarding way too get small seed in the ground.

I've done that too. With fert, and or lime. I've also been happy with the results of inoculating clover seeds. It's cheap and in my opinion well worth the time and money.

I'm planning to frost seed a 2/3 acre plot with some Ladino clover Sunday afternoon before the hard freeze Sunday night. I always just set my hand crank spreader barely open and crank it out.

Is it possible to overseed fescue with crimson clover, frost seeding?
Absolutely! Huge benefit for the wildlife, and maybe even better hay production with the nitrogen fixation the clover provides.

I've also frost seeded Ladino clover in some of my hayfields with good results, although I only got a couple years out of the Ladino instead of 4 or 5 years if it were in a dedicated plot, so it probably wasn't cost effective.
