Go to Leadvale. Like, right now. It's where the Nolichucky and French Broad dump into Douglas. I've heard they have been catching some walleye up there
30+ years ago we would catch sauger in the river above the Wolf Creek Bridge which is pure river. It was an event come March to go build a fire and fish for sauger.
The sauger don't seem to go much above the mouth of the Pigeon now. It has been suggested that fingerlings be released above the Wolf Creek Bridge to encourage the historical runs.
