Met him twice. Once at Anderson Archery in Michigan, the other at his place in FL. Stopped in 1987 on our way to Disney World. Walked in about 30 minutes before closing & guy behind counter was not glad to see us & 3 little girls. Mr Bear walked in behind us about 2 minutes later pushing a walker with oxygen. He personally gave us the grand tour & the guy behind counter had to stay about an hour over 🤣. One of the highlights of my outdoor career and never will forget his time & generosity. Can still remember the stories he told us!

I still watch the old Fred Bear videos. Great stuff, takes me back to my young days as a kid learning how to shoot the old Bear take down bow.
That bow would be worth who knows what today, thy made less than 1000 of the one I had. My best friends brother had a Kodiak Compass in maple. I'd give anything to have either of those bows today. Fred Bear is a legend.

My wife is from Grayling Michigan and she rode a community bus around town when she was young. She tells me stories of sitting on a bench with Fred Bear listening to him tell her stories. She said she used to look forward to sitting there waiting for the bus with him.
