FPB...I shot a whole pack today

I took my H&R Huntsman and my Remington Genesis...

H&R results > AWSOME!!! I have never had a bullet shoot out of this gun that got groups any tighter than 6 inches...Open sights 50yrds 90gr 777 loose and FPB bullets...After 5 rounds to make slight sight adjustments I had them smacking the paper where I wanted them. I got two bullets on top of each other (first ever with a Muzzle Loader for me) then I got another two on top of each other just under an inch from the first two. The remaining 6 shots were all just under an inch from each other. Very pleased with this bullets performance out of the H&R :smile: VERY PLEASED!! Also, I did what the package advised on NOT CLEANING BETWEEN SHOTS! Not even a spit patch! And every bullet went down with ease...

Remington Genesis results > Could not be determined beacuse I could not get a bullet to go down my barrel :( Looks like they maybe half the thickness of a sheet of paper too big for the Genesis barrel. I really wanted to shoot them from the Genesis but it looks like I will have to find another bullet for it :( or stick with shooting the XTP's...I just really want to get away from sabots...they seem to leave plastic residue in the barrel that is hard to get cleaned out...but the XTP's do shoot well...Back to the drawing board for the Genesis...

Final advise, would be to try the FPB before you buy too many as they may not fit every barrel. But if they do fit your barrel I think you will be very pleased and will be able to shoot one of if not the best Muzzle Loader bullet on the market today...for accuracy. We will see what they can do to a deer later... :wink:

Stalker, i noticed you used the 90 grains of powder. Is this your hunting load also or did you experiment with heavier loads to see what was the best overall?
I want to try 100,110,120,and even heavier 130.....
Cant wait to try them myself!

Well it was my first time with loose powder...After lots of advice I deceided to start with 90gr because I had been shooting 100gr pellets...

No, I did not experiement with any other loads...Reasons being that they were flying good as is...Also, my H&R Huntsman only has a 24"barrel. I really do not think any more than 90gr will burn up before the bullet leaves my barrel. With 100gr 777 pellets I always had some flame trail out the barrel, about 4ft of flame. I still have a little flame so I know I am putting all the barrel is capable of behind the bullet. I probably should back down a little more but the bullets were flying so great that I just wanted to keep shooting...

Yes, this will be my hunting load for deer as well. I would never change my load while hunting with out knowing where it hits. I always try to shoot the load that the gun likes for a particular projectile and stick with it because of accuracy no matter what I am shooting. I think I may have just got lucky with starting with 90gr and it works...I might could back off to 85gr or 80gr but I know that they fly true at 90gr...I may do some more experiementing later, after I find the bullet of the year for my Genesis.

i need to give them a whirl the breakaway sabots and 240 gr xtp are getting hard to find ( the sabots that is)

Yeah they are..as in I have not been able to find any at all...a buddy of mine had a whole bag of them and they had a felt ring that attatched to the bottom of the sabot to hold the two pieces together. The cool thing is that the felt pads are soaked in bore butter. The dang things clean the barrel as they are fired! they shoot very accurately but we have not been able to find any more.

i hope the bullet skirt fits my bore diameter.

They are about $15 - $17 per 15...and they do not have a skirt...they are formed alloy lead and copper jacketed with a polymer tip...they have a cup at the bottom like the Hornady great Plains bullets...

Kind of a neat gun I think...I was going to sell it after buying a Remington genesis because I could not find a bullet that would fly good out of it. I think my problem was the smaller bullets...it seems to like a heavy bullet. Now i will keep it. It is so much fun to shoot and it is not "old fashion" but it has a hint of it "old fashioness"...just enough to be a modern inline and really give the shooter alot of enjoyment from shooting...

Yes, same principle as the minnie and maxi balls...and they seem to be engaging into the rifling very well...infact it was part of their advertising about how well they expand into the rifling for improved accuracy.

Yeah, as expensive as powder is there is no need to waste in my opinion...save my money for gas...and milk.
