I found these on 2 different leases, I think the big 8 was hit by a car because he expired in the edge of a pasture less than 100 yards from a road. The In-tact skull was found along with a spike and doe close to some fields. Looks like they may have been shot and not followed onto our property.

Wow that bottom one is very cool with the knots on his bases going all the way up. Top pic was a good deer also

Very cool finds! I suspect the bottom-pictured buck--the one with the intense knurling (little bumps) all the way up the beams--died just before antler velvet shedding, yet after antler mineralization, which would put his death at the end of August. I say that because obviously his antlers were bone, but I don't think he had shed his velvet. Soon after velvet shedding, rubbing activity will rapidly wear down the sharp edges of the knurls.

I appreciate the info, never thought about it like that...I found him 75 yards from a blacktop road on the edge of a pasture, most likely he was hit by a car.
