Found something metallic in the creek

Anyone know what this is? My daughter found it while we were playing in a mountain creek the other day. Definitely metallic. Anyone know of any home tests? Lighter than lead or iron/steel

I'm going to guess melted aluminum.. if you can't figure it out , mail it to me, I'll run my metal detector over it and it will give me a reading that I should be able to tell you what it is..

I was thinking aluminum or tin, but curious as to how a lump of it got in the creek

Flooding along small creeks flow over several modern day camp sites. Could be waded up melted aluminum foil or a beer can melted down. I've seen pieces of melted aluminum left in campfires before. To me your pic looks similar. It appears to have been tumbled down the creek a ways however....

Do you have a magnet if it's aluminum a magnet will not stick to it.
At least you will no if it is aluminum or not.
