One of the farms I hunt is mainly in beans this fall. In the middle of a 200 acre bean field is a patch of woods. It's probably an acre. I think it would be nearly impossible to access it to actually hunt on it. I decided to scout it yesterday at lunch and found some great sign. As I was walking the perimeter, I found a large scrape. I looked up, and there they were.

I don't guess that makes the spot any more huntable, but I'm tempted to put a camera on it just to see what uses it. I probably won't though.

Looks good, I know of a hugely loaded down persimmon on edge of a bean field here. Might go check it for deer sign later this morning. Didn't have much sign early bow season.
 
To me, it would be worth watching from a distance to see if and when and where deer are moving to and from it....pattern that and you'll know when to sneak in.......up here, small woodlots like that offer safety....deer would see hear or smell approaching danger and sneak out other side but if you can get in ther at right time......lady luck may smile on you

That things loaded. I have a salt block i started 7 or 8 yrs ago. Just last year i put a hang on in a young oak over looking it. While hunting it last year i was just scanning the tree tops and noticed a persimmon tree just 10 yards from me. Then look to the right of it and there's another one 20 yards from me. Both are loaded.
 
I'm hunting a spot that is really the same setup. Small patch of woods in an open bottom. Go in and make you a mock scrape and hang a camera on it. You may be suprised what uses that little patch in the wide open. Just about every deer that crosses that field probably uses that patch for cover or to make sign or to feed. Great spot for a buck to check also. Trust me on this one!! I watch the patch on my place from about 200 yrds. I'm expecting it to pay off come rut. Don't actually hunt in it. Too high a chance for one to be in there when you go in..
 
ive got a camera moutned on a lone persimmon tree in a hay field. They have traditionally killed that tree and this year is no different. THey love it.

Beans. They were late, so they won't get cut til Thanksgiving. I tried to watch the island from the edge of the field but the topography is such that I can't see much. The field is right at 1000 yards wide.
