Went to Mississippi with my brother to visit his inlaws. They live in the middle of nowhwere, with some hunting land nearby. So...me, my brother, and his wife (she just went along) went to shoot for a little bit.

I am embarrassed to admit this, but I definitely need practice with my .357 mag shooting. I can do ok at the range shooting a paper target,. But this time, I could NOT hit a can at 10-15 yds away! I was shooting a Ruger SP101 with UMC 125 gr jacketed soft pointed bullets. I need more range time, and probably need to go back to shooting .38s from it.

But i had NO problem hitting those cans with the shotgun (Mossberg 500 12 gauge). I shot birdshot, buckshot, and slugs. Even let my brother shoot it, as he has very little experience with shotguns. He was in awe of the buckshot and the slugs...and in awe of the kick on his shoulder, too. :D I think he wants a shotgun for Christmas now. :D

It was fun shoot again, as I haven't done it much in the past year or so. Definitely want to start shooting more often!

Love me some shootin time!
Sadly, I don't do enough of it. One of my resolutions for 2017 is to shoot more often.

I have a couple of handgun ranges where I can shoot handguns in Memphis. But I need somewhere to shoot my shotgun and my rifle more often. Once or twice a month towards the end of the year just isn't enough to develop familiarity with the guns, the distance range and patterns, and experiment with different loads.

ive recently found a place to shoot that has steel targets set up 50,100 and 200 yards.numerous other targets set ups.ive always shot at a indoor range{boring},shooting outdoors at my buds range is 100x more fun and makes me want to go.we now shoot atleast once a month.when things get slow ,we blow things up.....man its fun

Where is this? Is this a gun range? Or is this on a private field somewhere (like the Loosahatchie Bottoms in Arlington)?
