Food Plots for those wanting a plot

Just a heads up for those out there without heavy equipment.I bought a groundhog=max at TSC and jacked up my Mule and attached it.The dang thing works like a dream.It works with side by sides and 4 wheelers and maybe even a truck.Made me 2 awesome plots with it.

What price did you pay for that? I did everything this year with a hand tiller (do not have a 4 wheeler or side by side). This is something I am strongly considering for next year.

One of those wouldn't have scratched the surface of my previously concrete-hard ridge-top "soils" (and I use that term loosely).

The only thing that finally broke the ground was a chisel plow.

Now if the ground has been turned in the recent past, or it is bottomland soils, I bet one of those will work.

I took two of my overgrown fields and mowed a long strip and just went baaaaack and fooooorth.Going to be a jungle overgrown and a long plot...going to kill that big droptine on my camera.AWP and chickory and a thin layer of wheat,clover for later

Works for me! No, wait a minute... That DIDN'T work for me...

I've also still got the brand new disk we destroyed in just 8 hours of use trying to turn our concrete-hard ground.

You were pulling it too fast with that Chevy truck. Wonder you didn't burn up your truck, using it like a souped-up tractor at a tractor pull!

Actually, that disk was destroyed behind a 60 hp 4WD John Deere. The ground was so hard the angled pressure on the disk plates actually stretched the front gang axles about an inch and a half. Disk plates were flopping all over the place after that.

I didn't know you tore up the disk soon after the truck went up in smoke. I confess to busting up my disk 3 different times since taking up this "varmint farming". The same disk was used since literally WWII with no repairs whatsoever, but since I started growing food plots in 2008 or 2009, I busted off 2 disks and broke both front gang supports/braces completely into. Good ting I've got a welder or I'd be out of business. I've also broke my 3 point hitch a couple of times and flattened 5 tractor tires fooling with food plots. You'd think the deer would be greatful enough to send one big antlered buck out as a sacrifice to me, wouldn't ya??

I had more break downs this year than ever before . Makes me wonder hy I even fool with food plots. I got a lot of cutting and welding to do before next year .
