If scents dont work why do these people say they do?How could these people experience positive results if scents dont work? Read the reviews
If that thought held up the deer could smell us from all directions. Think a cross wind in front of you and a deer in coming to our right and we have a scent wick there. The deer will smell the scent before he smells us.Thats why you put scent wicks out away from you. The deer will wind the scent before it hits your scent stream. The human stink from the hunter is blowing in one stream in one direction. and hopefully the deer winds the scent and comes in before he smells your scent stream.I figure your not going to bring in a deer from any distance 50 yards max but I have had a lot of luck useing them in thickets to bring deer in close enough to get a shot.cecil30-30 said:My thoughts on scents is this...In order for a deer to smell the scent that you put out the wind has to blow in the direction of the deer.. (deer being down wind of the scent) But if your hunting right by the scent, your scent is also blowing in the same direction that the scent you put out is blowing, which is blowing toward the deer. How's that supposed to work? Is the scent supposed to make the deer forget or ignore the fact that it also smells a human along with that doe estrous scent you put out??
Read the reviews on cmeere deer or acorn rage. I have tested thos products and alot of the reviews match mine. Cableas is a honest company that I trust completley. They have never edited any of my reviews good or bad.catman529 said:I wouldn't be surprised if those reviews were carefully selected, or maybe some even made up.
There full rut scent is awesome! The first year I used it I made a mock scrape with it during bow season and when I came back a week later there were 3 new scrapes and some massive rubs. I got a good 8 point licking it off a branch there too.Poleaxe said:Never was a beliver in scents at all or had any luck using any until I started using james valley scents. If any man says they havent had any luck with it I would hardly believe em. I have killed a good buck "Every year" since ive been using it. Note: Do not open or even crack it inside your house or your wife will put u and your bottle outside to sleep. Its 100 times more potent than tinks.
good to hear, I was just suspicious.timberjack86 said:Read the reviews on cmeere deer or acorn rage. I have tested thos products and alot of the reviews match mine. if you are in your stand overlooking a scent wick then hopefully you are high enough or the scent stream at a 90 degree angle so you can watch your scent and better your odds at not getting winded. The best way is to make a perpendicular drag across a Well known trail on your way in and be ready because the deer will come in with its nose glued to the ground if your lucky. They will trail it just like an old coonhound if they are interested regardless of windcecil30-30 said:My thoughts on scents is this...In order for a deer to smell the scent that you put out the wind has to blow in the direction of the deer.. Just because I use scents to bring deer into my shooting lanes in a 10 year old clearcut means I dont know how to hunt? Not everyone has the advantage of hunting open hardwoods or vast foodplots where you can see a half mile. I would never use scent in these situations.I use scent to bring deer I would not other wise see in some of the thickest hunting situations imaginable. What would be worse clearing 2 acres of shooting lanes or putting out a drop of doe estrus to bring a buck a few yards for a shot?I really dont get the money part.If you spend $8 on a bottle of scent and it brings in 1 deer I belive thats money well spent.Look at all the money we spend on other junk not hunting.Plus I really enjoy tinkering with diffrent hunting products to see how well they work.So the money issue dosent bother me at all.BSK said:Deer can be very curious animals. Just about ANYTHING will attract deer from time to time (including human urine).
However, for every time some attractant actually attracts a deer in close, there are probably a dozen times it scrapes them away.
Instead of spending all that time and money trying to find something that brings the deer to you, how about learning to HUNT and going and finding the deer? Isn't that the point...?
