Ready for a more normal college football season. I mainly checked out on sports last year but I am anxious to get back into it.
Thought about trying to get to the game tonight but it's too much for a school night and 3 hours away.

Pregame notes: shouldn't be surprised with Milton being named QB1, hope he pans out. Excited to see RBs & WRs. I think there is potential at both those spots and if BG is what they say they are it should be a big stat night. I know GA State taught us not to take these things for granted.
Listened to the new Tennessee Prime podcast yesterday and thought Cade Mays was a great interview and enjoyed listening to him talk about his love of duck hunting.

A Open letter

Focusing on ALABAMA Georgia and Florida has what gotten you into the mess you are in. Yet the fan base can't seem to let it go. It has just been a couple of seasons they were getting owned by Vandy till Pruitt came along and saved them from that. Lets not forget that.

P.S. Its been 5,431 days since Tennessee has beaten Alabama in Football, and 6,523 days since its happened in Tuscaloosa.

It was alrignt, only giving up 6pts was good.

I felt the offense was off and should have put up 50. Mutiple qb over throws on some deep balls. Qb completed less then 60% of his passes and took some sacks thats gonna have to get cleaned up if they want to win 4 More games this year.

Remember cbj was coaching a 19 to 21 game in the 4th quarter against the Ohio bobcats in 2016.

And Pruitt got beat down by Georgia state.

So could be worse.

Less than 50% of passes. Milton holds the ball too long and has zero touch on passes. Gonna be a long season with him back there if he don't improve drastically. First game so I'll try to hold judgement but it was pretty bad

Agree with all that up there Donkey & CB. Pass defense is suspect too which we knew. I think they're coached really well so hopefully they improve.
I was a little surprised more receivers didn't get targets but maybe that'll change game to game. On the positive side I think the RBs looked good. Obvious Small should have had some more touches last year.

On the whole I'm conflicted about not putting too much into it since it's the first game with a whole new staff and pretty new roster, against the fact that it was BG and it's only gonna get a lot harder from here.

Small is good and Evans might be a problem for opposing defenses if we have ANY passing game. I bet Pitt stacks the box and tries to make us pass. Last nights offense will be easy to stop going forward.

Milton has a cannon. Going to need a lot of work to get him where he's a good QB and not just one that's got a laser rocket arm, but I reckon that's what this coaching staff is good at? We'll see.

Not what I was expecting for game 1 but we won. It really wasn't at all exciting to watch. 2nd quarter was brutal. I'm sure part of the game plan was to not have a lot on film. Pitt will show us where we really are. Miltons makes passing look effortless but noting about his passing games for me fired up. Sure beats losing to GA St though

I'd still take him over JG.

I didn't watch much of it, but as mentioned, at least he is a threat to run and has some speed and power. JG would get caught from behind by a lineman, and wilted at any contact.

His decision making needs to be kicked up several notches or he's going to take a beating holding the ball too long. We need faster receivers to catch up to his bazooka bombs :D !

Hope Mays injury isn't too serious.

Next week will really tell us a lot, but I'm afraid it won't be positive.

If we win 6, it'll be surprising.

I think this team is good to great QB play away from surprising a lot of folks IF they can stay healthy. The problem with that is Milton was AWFUL last night. Looked like the exact same QB that couldn't stay on the field at Michigan. I loved the new offense and especially the run game, but the QB play was just downright bad. Hopefully Heupel can coach him up and get the most out of his potential. The D looked about like I expected. The first team guys aren't too bad but we don't appear to have much depth and will definitely have some games where we give up a ton of points. Overall I'm afraid we are looking at another year of awful QB play holding us back but I am more optimistic about this coach and his staff.

there best qb is not on the field.
Sorta What I was thinking pre season. It won't surprise me for them to try Bailey out at some point soon just to see how it works for them. Honestly I watched only the first quarter of the game last night then found something better to do. Saw MIlton Over throw his intended receiver who did a excellent job breaking away from double coverage which should have been a easy touch down. He picked a spot on the field to aim for rather than going for his man. Its what people have been saying about him all along he has no accuracy. Also saw him stay in the pocket several times and did nothing. Once I could have counted on a Micky Mouse watch how long he stood in the pocket and wound up getting sacked with no yardage. Comon man! This is a game of Inches. When the opposing team which did not win a game all season last year gives you all that time in the pocket to do something you do something. If he thinks he is going to get that sort of time in the pocket against a elite Defense like ALABAMA hes gonna get crushed.

Teams with deep in the roster will find a way to exploit that hurry up offense pretty well. Its only going to work on teams like BG that don't have any depth that will run out of gas in the tank real quick. Teams with Depth will just put out fresh squads on the field on the next drive while that offense is sucking for oxygen in short order.

Not sure why Bailey didn't get some reps.
Agreed..woke up this AM and saw where they ran the score up and figured they would have worked in some of the 2nd and 3rd stringers to see what role they might have played on the team. Makes sense right?
