Any of you use fertilizer in the winter time? I think it's a great time to do it for your clover or your fall/winter food. Even though several things determine your protein levels the green color in your leaves is a great way to determine weather or not your getting the higher to highest return. I also believe this is a great way to help your bucks recover faster to help them to focus more time growing big antlers. The first overall shot is after I fertilized it. The last overall is about 1 week before I fertilized it. This has created much larger leaves and more food per square ft.

For spring I start in the middle of February you can frost sow clover. If fall time frame is your goal then I start in September around the middle of the month. Not had any problems with mine doing that way.

After reading up more on the topic...Hoping to do two new plots between mid February to early March....just depending on weather and work schedules.....other plots we will likely do early to mid September.

Another item I am doing is broadcasting minerials into the food plot. If you focus on your soil it will get you better results. I quit doing mineral stations. I use this real world mineral now and just turn my plot into my mineral station with high protein food at the sametime. They have an ehd preventative in it and claim no deer has died from ehd using their feed and materials. So far I have broad cast 80 pounds of it into the clover and 20 to 25 pounds in my fall/winter area and another 40 or so pounds in the corn and soybean areas.
