I was reading the Buckwheat thread and got to thinking I would like to sow some in my 3 acre plot. But the guestion I have is would it benefit me to plant buckwheat this summer with my plots being in the same field as 40 acres of beans or corn. would the deer use eat the buckwheat or would they skip it for the beans. We plant one there in the fall which is great because of harvest but would it be benificial and help keep the plot active during the summer months when the deer are hammering beans.

I believe the corn and soybeans would outgrow the buckwheat, shading it out.

Although the buckwheat might take some of the browse pressure off the young soybeans.
