food plot help please

i have 4 small plots uaround my bow stands. i planted it this fall with wheat and clover ,the wheat came up but deer didnt use it much the clover is poped up here and there not enough to even say it had clover in it .the plots have been limed heavy. the plots now have a mix of wheat ,clover weeds ,about two inches high but not real thick. should i wait and work the the plots up again and re plant ,or frost seed clover on it now, if so when or should i spray for the weeds , i have worked really hard on these plots but never get anything i am proud of ,and end up planting wheat just to get it green .but the deer walk right though it most of the time.never have tried to plant in the spring but thought it might work if i was going with some clover .

I would try frost seeding clover,remember if its white clover,or perrinials sp? ,they take longer to establish than annuals.Maybe try an annual like crimson.No need to spray until stuff is growing,wont do any good to spray dormant stuff.

What is your ph?

Deer may not use em much in big acorn years.Do you have any exclusion cages?Really hard to tell what deer are doing w/o them.

You didnt mention how you get the ground ready,soil compaction could be a problem,do you disc,plow, anything?

Small plots can have a too much shade problem.

They hammer ours in Wayne county jan thru march really hard. Check your Ph.....it will help tremendously if it is corrected. Wheat and clover mixtures work great for us.
