Food Plots Food Plot Depredation

I planted my small food plot last week. This week I went over and looked around and something has pretty much scratched up all the seed! I pulled my camera and the main culprits are-TURKEYS!

I've only seen turkeys there once before. Now they are there everyday.

And a stupid groundhog

They don't eat the plot seeds, but they sure drain the feeder.

Might be wise to not put a feeder over your foodplot next year. I'd say that is the main source of the attraction for your varmints, not the seed you planted.
Sure, the turkeys can and will many times go after the seed you plant, and I've had that same problem myself but the coons and whistle pigs are probably there for a different reason.

Good Point! I thought having the feeder there would attract them. I'll move the feeder further down the creek.

If I feed corn, which I typically only do January-March, I never put the feeder on the field or close to my mineral sites...

I'm with these guys, you baited the turkeys in to your freshly sown seed. If you're gonna feed, might want to move it when the plots are first going in.
