fray a small piece of nylon cord savagely, and use it for a fly. the gar grab that, and it's all over but the shouting. lots of fun...I've done it some, it was fun but I was surprised how little they foughtever tried it? when the smallmouth, white bass etc on the Holston slack off, i fly fish for gar. i can't help myself, it's an insidous addiction.
really ? most i hook spend a LOT of time airborne.
Some do, some don't. What I haven't paid attention to is if one species fights harder than the others but I will now, now that's it's been brought up.
looking back, it seems that those caught in warmer weather fought better. i wonder if colder water temps could affect them ?
