Fluted Barrel Question

Please tell me again why I "might" want a fluted barrel over a regular barrel?

(Assume same gun, same barrel manufacture, just fluted vs. round.)

For 99.8% of the people, I'd agree with pass-thru, it's all about the eye-candy!

I opt for stanard weight barrels I no longer shoot matches.

may also contribute to increase barrel stiffness, although that is debatable.

Primary reason is wt reduction and increased heat dissipation. Most smiths will charge another $200 or so for the service, not really sure it's worth it.
