The news is just filtering out that Flip Pallot passed away yesterday during a fairly minor surgery.

For me, Flip always represented everything that was "right" for an outdoorsman in the media. His shows were never infomercials. He always portrayed his pursuits with a reverence for nature. His hunting and fishing skills were legendary, but, he never came across as wanting to be a legend. He was always just a good old Florida boy living out his dream.

Prayers for peace and comfort for his family and friends. May this true giant rest in peace.
 
I was lucky enough to take Flip bass fishing on one of the lakes I manage. We had a blast. He was supposed to elk hunt with me in Montana but we could not work that out. Good guy never acted like the celebrity he was. Life is short and he filled his with friends and experiences. He will be missed. First JG, AK, now FP. The icons of our sport are fading.
 
The man could narrate a pillow-fighting contest that would make you feal like you were there. He was a wealth of knowledge and could tell the day's adventure with so much detail.

One of the best quotes i've ever heard came from my grandfather. He said, "the only routine surgery is on someone else." I've been an RN for over 12 years. Never heard a more accurate quote.

One of the pioneers of saltwater fly fishing especially for tarpon. His TV show walkers cay chronicles is one of the best if not the best fishing show there's been. He's a legend in the fishing community, especially the fly fishing world but not limited to that by any means
 
And an awesome narrator…… I believe I saw where he was the voice of the SEC tv series "Saturday's in the South" also.
