What flashlights are you guys using.in my 30 plus years of hunting I have never felt the need of having a high grade flashlight until here lately.I have been hunting the same spots all my life and really don't need a light to find my trees.I love to hunt the evenings and have had to situations in last couple years where I needed a real good light.I think it's time to buy a good quality light.what do you guys have and recommend.thanks

I have used a Fenix PD32 the last few years and I'm nothing but pleased with it. The only thing that's a pain is the type of batteries it uses, they're not very common. But, I order them off Amazon so that's not really an issue for me.

I dont use a light unless Im tracking one at night and then I try to carry a couple different LED lights with very high Lumens, one is 2500 I think. You can order them off Amazon, Ebay, etc.

Jet beam as recommended by someone on here. 1100 lumens.
Various streamlight and Princeton tech with red led. Had a streamlight headlamp but duracell batteries leaked and ruined that one. Klarus also makes a good retina burner

I use a SureFire G2X LE 400 Lumens LED flashlight. I wanted something light and compact that I could use to track deer.

I like the lower lumen LEDs myself. I don't want to light up the woods like high noon in mid July, I just want to see to get to where I'm going. I have a Coleman that is something like 60 or 80 Lumens and it's so superior to the old incandescent lights that I don't want anything more. Also it uses cheap AAA batteries rather than some oddball type. Another feature I like is that it only has two modes - ON and OFF. I don't need or want a strobe light and don't really want two light levels so that you wear the switch out going through all 3 modes every time you have to switch it on for a few seconds to see something. I have several of the 250 to 300 Lumen lights that use 3 AAA's but their battery life is short and you rarely need so much light walking to your stand. Of course it is nice to keep a bigger light in the truck in the event you do need to trail a wounded deer in the dark.

I just use a simple head lamp. It has green, red, and white light. If i can't see or get lost, I put on the white light. If I know where I am going, I try to use the red light as that is the least noticeable, but sometimes I like the green light because it is a compromise.

Would definitely recommend one of the very high (2500 lumens) compact lights for this situation, they are small fitting in palm of your hand but very very bright . I carry one with spare Lithium (123) batteries for just these situations. I dont use a light walking in so the only time i need one I need a BRIGHT one.ROUGH COUNTRY HUNTER":13vguimk said:

I use a single rechargeable battery in mine. It lasts a very long time and I've never had to replace it in the 3 or so years that I've owned it.
Look up Fenix ARB-L2 batteries. You will need 1 battery for the light, and you will need a charger.

Black diamond headlamps are light and nice.Most trackers I know use a headlamp and a handheld both for tracking.
