The wife and I are going canoeing on the buffalo river for Memorial Day and I was hoping to get some lines in the water as well. I know that we will be surrounded by the drunken idiots but I figure I could find a quite hole or two long the way. I've never really fished there and was hoping that yall with experience on that type of water could give me a few pointers.

pumpkin seed slider worm.works well for small mouth.i will be one of thouse drunk idiots on the river next weekend

Last week the smallies were in the current breaks. Plenty of black perch and small smallies in the eddies around the bluffs. A small paca craw or 4" slider worm as suggested above would be a good place to start.

We got there and my pregnant wife decided that she didn't wanna deal with the hassle of fishing and paddling and she would not budge on it. But once we got out on the water for about ten min and saw a bunch of shadows underwater and a few rises, she said "we really should've brought the rods." All I could do was bite my tongue and agree. Ohh well, we will go again another time.
