I go to UT and I'm looking for somewhere to go fishing while I'm up here. I'll be fishing from the bank and probably on the weekends so I don't mind driving a little distance if I need to. Is there somewhere fairly near campus that I could go, or a good spot down on the river?

thanks guys

lots of places close to you,ft loudon is close & trout waters are no big drive either, just say what you want to try for & somebody will get you to a spot,mike243

get a pair of waders and hit the clinch below Norris dam. That is the best fishing you will find without a boat. The trout fishing is excellent.

Smallmouth fishing on the Little Pigeon in Sevierville/Pigeon Forge, trout fishing on the Clinch around Clinton, find a spot on the bank on any of the lakes around Knoxville:Ft Loudon, Tellico, Melton Hill, Watts Bar, Douglas, Cherokee, Norris. There is plenty of water within a 45 minute drive from UT campus.

Congrats.
You have just moved to the best fishing city (without being on the ocean, of course) east of the Mississippi. PM me if you have a specific question. I have a son @ UT as well. We might slip off to the Clinch today if I can clear my schedule.

Thanks guys. I don't fly fish or anything right now, although I would like to try to get into it later. I'm just trying to catch bass or bluegill or whatever I can, I just like being out there. School is about to drive me crazy and sometimes you just need to be out on the water.
