Took my 5 and 8yr old grandsons camping on Neville Bay. It was hot and miserable but the fishing made up for it.
Caught a few bluegill, whitebass and small largemouth bass off of the channel islands the first night and next morning.
Early in the afternoon the Largemouth were hammering the shad at the mouths of creek inlets. Hooked up and lost a few good keepers.
Ran a litte further up river at about 4pm and fished another creek. First 6 casts brought 6 into the boat, 3 of them keepers (15-16"). Fished it for about an hour and hooked up on at least 30 bass, boated about 20, most of them were around 14". Bass were hitting as the the lure was falling right at the drop. Was using a Mepps Plain Giant Killer (silver blade http://www.mepps.com/information/plain- ... escription ), Berkley 6' medium spinning rod with 8lb Berkely Big Game line. It was a blast bring in all them bass.
Kept 4 keepers for dinner and the boyes enjoyed them...foil wrapped with lemon slices and butter, buried in the coals of the fire.
