First weekend with crossbow

This was my first weekend with a crossbow (Barnett Quad 400). I've compound hunted since the '80s, but wanted to try something different.
This is MUCH harder than regular archery, muzzleloader or rifle!! A lot different to actually hunt with one vs. just taking it out of the garage and shooting in the yard.
The crossbow is heavy and unweidly. You have to think about it everywhere you go, as you can't just slip through small holes or easily climb down a creekbed.
On the plus side, they are easy to shoot and very, very accurate.
My hats are off to all of you. I'm sticking with it, but will be hitting the gym and eating my Wheaties.

Yeah I found that out after last year. But the advantage that I do like is I can walk in the woods. Plant my butt on the grround against a tree and shoot one if it comes by. Hard to draw a bow sitting on the ground

Thats the exact reason i bought one, i work nights so i come home change clothes and go sit somewhere dont have to worry about a stand

Yeah if I had more $$ and more stands I would have kept my compound. More fun to shoot and a lot lighter but the crossbow is more convenient.

With a shoulder slowly going bad, drawing a regular bow is getting tougher.
I'm going to be out of a ground blind this weekend. Can sit in a chair and shoot!!

You're correct on every point. I find myself hand carrying mine to my stand more than shouldering it.

Here's a tip for you:
If you modify your quiver to better hold mech broadheads, don't leave the quiver sitting on the kitchen counter when you go hunting.
Hand carrying your arrows is no fun.

Are a few seasons, you will start looking at the woods in a different eye. You will find yourself picking your path to your hunting spot in a more effecient manner. Just takes time and practise carry one to get from point A to point B.
