27 yards, hard quartering shot. Arrow entered just behind the last rib and exited through the front lower chest cavity and was stopped by the front leg. He ran 30 yards, wobbled to the right, wobbled to the left, then fell over dead as a hammer.

Bigfoot Sasquatch SS 50#@27" Easton 2213 arrow tipped with a razor sharp Werewolf 200gr double bevel head.

No monster by any means. But I'm tickled with him as my first traditional buck harvest.

Thanks, Song Dog. Funny you should mention that...the only thing I remember about my shot sequence was picking that spot. Next thing I knew, he was standing there doing the death wobble. Instinct completely took over.
 
That is freaking awesome!!! And a 27 yard shot.!.!.!.! A lot of guys aren't capable of that with modern archery equipment. Very well done sir. I want to kill a deer with trad gear next year.

CONGRATS!!!!!! :party: that's a fine first buck with trad gear.

similar experience with my trad kills. it seems with mine within the first 15 seconds of seeing the deer I would have the thought 'I will get a shot at this deer'. I don't always get that thought.

I love these 200gr Werewolfs. Great flight, quiet, and easy to get razor sharp. The one I used is still shaving sharp...although I will touch it up again. When it comes to stick bows, speed doesn't kill. It's kinetic energy that gets the job done. Hence the 200gr up front.

I shoot at 30 yards pretty regular. Some days I'm great at that range, some days not great at all. On those days, I step up to 15 and try to forget the bad shots. I wouldn't say I got lucky making a 27 yard shot...it just came together perfect for me on this particular shot. No lies to tell, I've also missed a deer completely at 10 yards lol.

But I've practiced countless hours and fired countless arrows. This is something I wanted to do. I'm no Howard Hill and this didn't come naturally to me. I just had a dog-damned determination to be efficient with a simple stick and string.

This is the best bow, arrow, broadhead combo I've ever put together. Pound for pound, this is the fastest bow I've ever shot (and while speed doesn't kill, it certainly helps with cast and keeping my brain/sights in the right place). And the arrows are perfectly tuned and fly like lasers.
 
Good eye Stykbow! That is a Tippit. I'm really proud to own one.
 
Congrats on a fine trad buck. That's such an awesome feeling when your able to make a clean kill with a stick n string. Who needs sights anyways.
 
That's awesome! Where are you finding 2213 arrows though? Them things are impossible to find anymore.
 
Wiggy, I picked these up off the classifieds on Trad Gang. Got a heck of a deal on 18 full length shafts. There's still some out there floating around. Most "trad" guys don't seem to care for the 2213 as it's a thin wall, light weight shaft. They give me around 9 gpp (best I remember) and fly great out of this bow. No complaints here.
