I bought a camera just after hunting season was over. My first placement took plenty good pictures of turds riding ATVs through the property. I did not get a single picture of simply nothing. Several pics looked like the camera had simply tripped on its own, yet upon close examination, I found a squirrel or a raccoon that had set the camera off.
I put the camera on a different piece of land on 3/21 and pulled the card Saturday. I had about 190 pics, but the vast majority simply took a beautiful picture of the woods. Is this common? I placed the camera on a cedar tree facing north. The camera was blocked from stray sun rays by the limbs and leaves of the cedar.
I did get a few pics of some deer, turkey, a stray dog and a lone coyote. There were almost no pictures taken at night and a few pictures taken in the middle of the day that came out black.
The camera is a Covert infrared camera and I upgraded the firmware just before putting it out the first time. I forget the model.
I set the camera to take a single picture every 15 seconds.
