Talking with landowner while out working today. Ask if I can disk up part of that 5 acre field I plan to build shooting house on next summer. I have never planted a area that big just for deer. I have a farmer friend who will disk it up real good on the cheap. Where do I go from there, do I need to spray to kill any weeds that may come back or not before planting anything, The deer seem to like some of the stuff that grows there now. If I do just try and overseed it what type deer greens would I want to plant ? I would like it to last summer thru fall and not have to go back in and redo it later in the year. I really don't want to do clover totally due to having to mow it down time to time during growing season unless the deer can keep up with eating it down which it doubtfull. Be nice if I could come up with something that would reseed itself even year to year.
