first time drawn on catoosa bicolor rifle any tips

i am new to forum and have been drawn on the early dec bi color catoosa rifle hunt, any place i can search on forum for pointers, or does anybody have anything they can offer? any one area better than others, atv's allowed yes/no, lodging nearby, tree stands versus ground and pound...ANY help will be much appreciated, fyi, i am a very expeirenced deer hunter willing to do some walking/sitting to get the right buck, thanks

We have been up there for the past 3 years and haven't seen a deer due to all of the logging. You are better off hunting the Genesis side.

Am I correct in saying that , although I was drawn on bicolor side I can hunt EITHER side just check in at bi color?

Yes you are right, you can hunt all of catoosa no matter which side you got drawed to, and they prefer you check it out on the side you got drawed on. ATV's are allowed, and I have been down there the past 5 or 6 years and with my experience you need to hunt near a thick spot if you want to find a real good buck. I dont know which side is better though because I have seen good deer come out of both.

I have been hunting catoosa for years. I like Genesis the best due to less hunters. Tree stand for me, lots of good trees to climb. It will be a bit of a drive if stay in a motel. There is good camping areas on Genesis and bi color.Best results for me as been to get as far from the roads as possible.

Hunt the thickest, nastiest place away from roads. They check a few big ones a year. They all come from that method. STAY away from their planted food plots. Use a climbing stand. Try some old clear cuts.

thanks guys, pretty much what i thought , just like anywhere else , get away from the people, get in the thick stuff where they hide, get up tree.... how far roughly are the motels?

I think it is about 10 or 11 miles to plenty of rooms in Crossville. I have stayed in them on very cold weather hunts, not bad at all, just get up a few minutes earlier.
