Got my first deer from the ground with a bow this afternoon. I took a half day because I felt like they would be moving after that rain came through. Sure enough, on my way to my stand i came to the first 'field' that we planted a food plot in. I could see through the brush an outline feeding. So I got on one knee and knocked an arrow. She stepped out at 20-25 yards but just as I was about to release she saw me and started to bolt. Ended up a little far back but angled through lung and heart. She didn't run too far.

It was exciting and quick hunt. Got the lease at 2 and had her arrowed by 2:15.

Sounds like a great hunt! Congrats on the archery kill from the ground.

Congrats! Pretty cool to take one from the ground - and with a bow to boot. My first bow kill ever was from the ground, so I am quite partial!

Grats! How are you liking the motive?

I love this bow. It's fast and quiet. My previous bow was a Mathews (which I loved) but it doesn't compare to this. Granted my Mathews was like 15 years old.

Thanks all. I feel lucky how it worked out.

I actually debated whether to put my release on before I left the truck or not - glad I did. You never know when an opportunity will present itself.

Pretty sure if I was at the Fort I'd be called an Elmer but even Mr. Fudd gets lucky every once in awhile.
