110 FCP HS Precision 338 Lapua,,3.5-10x50 Leupold was the only thing I had handy to put on it,,bore sighted and fist shot was 4 inches high 2 inches left,,16 clix down and 8 clix right 2nd shot hit the X in the center of 100 yard smallbore target,,

first impression is very good....

Don't know if it was just mine or what but you may want to check the screws on the rail I didn't and mine came loose after about 10 shots I had to put a little loc-tite on mine and re-tighten.

a friend of mine has pretty much the same rifle in 308 and his base has come loose 3 times,,we put red loctite on it the last time..

gonna be a while before I can afford a scope that will do what I need with this but I am gonna play around with it some at 10X,,heck that is all the mag Carlos Hathcock ever had,

I will have to say, the Savage is the most accurate thing in my collection. But all Ihave is 2, and both are a Savage. Plus the custom is on a Savage action. Very nice for the money.
Congrats on the new toy

I would not call them cheap by any means,,the HS Precision stock is well made and the brake works really well,,the Accutrigger is pretty good also,,

Savage is the best gun for the money on the market. You can you can go with other brands and pay for it. But the accuracy is hard to beat.

I have a 4.5-14 LRT M1 on my 223,I think I need 20-24X on the top end for what I am gonna use this rifle for,,

the end goal is hits on a 5 gallon bucket at a mile,

Nice looking rig. Keep us informed on ballistics of that thing.

I have shot Daddys Sako TRG 42 338 a right smart and while the Savage is not in the league with that rifle it should shoot about the same,,I hope it does at least..

shooting the 300 gr Lapua Scenar and 94 grs Retumbo at 2800 fps it is much easier to dope the wind than with anything I have ever shot,,you still have to account for the wind but if your wind speed estimates are off you dont miss near as bad.

the Sako has a 9 twist and it doesnt shoot the Bergers near as well as the Lapua bullets,,I am hoping the Savage 9 twist will shoot the Hybird Berger,,

one more thinng I noticed last night,,the 5 round mag is marked 338 LM 3.850 OAL,,making it .200 longer than the Sako and Rem Magazines, which could really come into play with the tempermental Berger VLD bullets.

I was on the Savage's website and seen that mean looking rifle, I hope you have a good padding on that shoulder. I've been looking at a Savage also. I'll look for awhile, go by and even pick them up and handle them. Savage has come a long way in the past few years and they are making a fine rifle. Good luck.
