Got it done tonight on this Percy Priest doe. She came in and got a 10 yard shot on her at 5:45. I knew I hit her good by the sound of my arrow and she took off. I got down from my stand after waiting 30 minutes and while waiting another doe came and followed the same path she was on. I could have gotten a double but didn't want to drag 2 out near a mile. Best lesson learned is to buy a game cart!

I was unable to find my arrow or much sign at the point of impact, just some hair. About 15-20 yards down the path she followed I got on blood, not much but enough to go on. The whole time worried did i hit the shoulder blade, where is my arrow, i sure hope i didn't mess up the shot. The blood got more and more sparse but I had the general direction she went on. I began griding the area and found her at 6:45. Then the work began, she had ran deep into some thick stuff! Made a trip out with my stand, gear, and bow. Hiked back in and began the hour and a half drag to get her to my nearest exit point. Boy was I thirsty and sore once i got her loaded.

The shot did end up being high and back which would account for the poor blood trail. My swhacker worked like a charm, smaller entrance and almost 2 inches on the ext. Shot hit one lung, liver, and nicked the stomach. I was so worried about hitting that shoulder that the slight angle she was at nicked the guts. Strange thing with the arrow it was hanging out, about 4" still in the deer. The broad head was missing and the insert packed with dirt.

I want to thank everyone on tndeer who has provided advice and support with my deer season.

She is not a small deer and very fatty when i skinned her

Awesome! It's definitely something to be proud of when you kill one out there. It took me a while to finally kill one out there.

Congrats on the deer, that's still a deadly shot. I've ran a couple arrows through shoulder blades and still got a pass thru

Congratulations on the kill! And I commend the fortitude to hang in there on tough public land!

Good for you man I'm still waiting for my first bow kill. Hopefully it will happen this weekend.

Just keep at it, I was getting down about this season; but it just takes a good stand location and the right wind. Good luck!

Congrats on the first. If you kill another on Priest and need a cart shoot me a pm. Depending on what part of Priest you were on you were possibly close to me. I live near the racetrack.

Bigtime congrats, and x2 here if you ever need any help.
