First year turkey hunting. Read alot and listened to advice. Went by myself and seen some toms off the roost at 715 but a lone hen came down and all the attention was on her. Thought I heard a gobble about 915. Clucked and yelped really short trying not to over call while a her decoy was behind me. He popped out about 35yards and I put him to sleep. 21lbs, 9 1/4 inches beard, 1 inch spurs. Was a great day.

Dang you. Now you got me hooked. Climbed out of the blind wishing you was there with me. We got next season tho. Just hope I still got this honey hole.

Thanks for all the congrats. It sure was a high adrenaline experience. Can't wait to go back.

If this was a creek bottom bird you might consider going up behind Max's next time and rest that other spot a bit. Just above his water pump there are some small flat bench's that those birds like to strut back and forth on.

I'll holler at you.
