Wonder how a piece of aluminum would look. I mean, sized like a regular recoil pad but aluminum.

I have been thinking about making an aluminum buttplate at work and have the guys in anodizing polish it out and put a gold etch on it,,but I am gonna try to do it with a reddish cherry piece of wood,,
 
Once upon a time, I tried to get a tigerwood stock from a company in Missouri, now out of business, the name is selling plastic stocks. The price for a blank, this was over 20 years ago, was twice the price of a new rifle. Custom wood is quite expensive.

yes but you have to figure in final inletting and bedding and finishing,,including the Accraglass and sandpaper and lacquer I only have about 350 in the stock but probably double that if I count my time like a gunsmith would,,
