This ole boy got by me last week when he came to a big scrape under a very large leg sized beech tree and i couldnt see but 6 pts and was trying to make out the others cause his head was totally covered in beech leaves. I had a second chance thurs morn when again he was coming into a large oak bottom draw headed to a scraping area when he winded me , blew and ran to his right about 60 yards up on a small but steep knoll. this moved him right out of my wind and he hesitated trying to locate me and while doing so allowed me to turn completely around and get on him at about 95 yards and i quickly took a shot knowing he wasnt hanging around long. hit him in the leg with the Fpb and then it veered off into his ribs for 6 inches into the belly area then back out thru the ribs and landed in the area between the skin and rib cage. that 350 grain bullet must have split into cause what was left was about 75 grains of bullet and luckily i had a great blood trail. he led me thru a chase of about 500 or more yards of getting up and running then crashing then repeating this process over and over. He couldnt go real far so i just kept dogging him until he completely went full circle to the way i came in and crashed in some really thick cutover 40 yards from a friends shooting house and i just let him lay cause it was time for me to go to work. I told my friends about him and approx where he was laying. they watched that area for about 2 hours and when his wife saw brush moving rapidly she figured he was trying to get back up but couldnt so her husband went in on him and put a final shot in him as he was about to expire. What a day to remember and what a buck. My best. he weighed about 200#s live weight. 16.5 spread, 22 inch main beams and 8" G-2 and 3's on his left side. Glad to get that one in early!!

I had to be late one day earlier in the week and i was confident he was going to expire there so that made it a little easier!....I do regret not being there to get him out. Even more glad i recovered him. He is my best to date.
