Well after a long and terrible start to my hunting season I finally got one down. Not going to go into the luck I've had this year but.... Im a little bummed it was a spike when I got to him but happy to get some meat in the freezer. heres the story
Got off work at 4 and headed down the road to my grandparents property about 10 minutes from work.. Didnt have any hunting clothes except for my leafy suit so i put it on and my orange and headed to my new stand i just put up on the edge of a thicket.. Get up in my stand and settle in. I grunted a few times and followed with a snort weeze and a little bit of rattling. looked up and seen a buck standing 50 yards from me freshening a scrape i had made the day before with my own pee(im a beleiver now). Tried everything to get him to step out but he wouldnt. About 15 minutes after he disappeared I heard something behind me and turned around and seen feet in the thicket behind me . I stood up and turned around only to feel the wind hit me in the back and I just knew he was going to smell me since i had came straight from work without taking a shower. He made it to about 40 yards from me and turned going to other way so i grunted to stop him and picked an opening just big enough to shoot through and pulled the trigger. He ran 50 or 60 yards and i heard him pile up. I thought he was a doe but it will work for me after a slow start this year.
