I almost was gonna pass up this deer, until he hopped the fence after I snort wheezed. He was on a doe heading onto the other property and I didn't think I could pull him off her.

So this deer was one I've been after since the velvet hunt, been watching him since June. But I had a heck of a mature deer on trail cam on a piece of public that I believe was very much killable, and was gonna go after that deer again in the morning. I guess that all changed when I called in this deer this afternoon.

Not gonna go into detail, but I'll post some pics of him throughout the summer and fall. He was a regular all summer long, and during early bow season, but only showed up occasionally in the past several weeks.

If I had sat in the same spot every day of the velvet hunt and the first week of bow season, I'd have killed him already. But such was not the case, the game was cat and mouse.

Anyway here he is. I pulled him off a doe this afternoon with a snort wheeze. 50-60 yard shot with the muzzleloader.
