Got in woods this afternoon at about 330 and couldn't decide which stand to get in so decided to sit next to tree. Haven't seen anything the last week or so, and wondering if the rut was ever gonna happen at my place or had I missed it, anyways at about 4:15 a doe walks in front of me at about 25 yards I assumed I would be busted sitting next tree but she never looked at me I kept hearing something behind her and she finally walked down hill so I started to ease my head around tree to see what was behind her and 15 yards away he had laid down on the other side of tree I was sitting beside looking my way, my heart started to race knowing he would bolt at any second and I couldn't do anything at all, what seemed like an eternity he just got up and started walking toward the doe and I picked up gun and grunted at him he turned broadside at about 20 yards and I fired and that was it. Can someone tell me what they think the age is. Thanks sorry he is sideways but dont know how to rotate picture

hate to comment on my own post but i am still stoked about it. I cannot
believe that I did not get busted, I know I tightened up when I saw him laying on
the other side of the tree, i just knew he was going to be in the next county at any moment.

The time frame and the emotions you felt between when you saw him laying and when you pulled the trigger is what we go to the woods for. Congrats!

yes it is, I went from thinking I should be at home doing something productive , to doom and gloom knowing he was going to get up and run to fist pumping excitement, and then how in the world am i going to get him out of here. It was great.

here is another pic with my son, he had to put on his camo because he said he had to look right for the picture

Good story and nice buck. I have no idea how old he is though. As to why he didn't bolt, sometimes they just don't do what you expect and maybe you didn't react like he expected, either way this time it worked out for you. Congrats.

Congrats on the deer. Nice wide rack.
Age I would say is 3 1/2 at least. My guess would be 4 1/2.
