well..the long weekend wasn't a total waste..i did get a chance to get a food plot bushhogged and cut up..hope the weather will let me get the lime and fert on it..and get it turned under this week..if we don't get any more HEAVY rain it should all come together just right..i really need to push that old tree out of the field

 
Very nice looking field!

Since I had the time, I already mowed, sprayed, and sown my plots with clover (two weeks ago). It rained heavy as I was seeding. Clover germinated very well, but has struggled through this late August heat-wave and hot spell. But the rain we got last weekend and today at my place is probably just enough to carry it through. I'll spray with grass-killer and sow wheat in mid to late September.

Old trees make good rabbit and quail hides. Put ya a small salt block in under the limbs. Rabbits like salt to and they will be safe from hawks and other predators.

yea..you know what else hide under them ole trees..ground bee's..by the 1000's..i got the top pushed around..started on the root ball end..and all he!! broke loose..i got hit 11 times in the neck and back..and 6 on the head..i went ahead and cleaned up where it was layin..but its probly gonna rot right there..
 
well..i about got it ready for seed..had a solid 6.5 ph from all test holes..but I spread 1,200 lbs of lime(30 dang bags) on 33,000 sq ft..for good measure..I got 250 lbs 15-15-15 im gonna try to sling on in and get it turned under in the morning..then its waitin on the rain..gonna do 1/2 acre in a oat,triticale,turnip,red clover mix..and try a 1/4 acre in just rape,radish,clover..

Correct, not drilling. Top-sowed the clover as well. I just seed heavier than recommended when I top-sow to compensate for lower germination rates.
