Been a tough 3 days predator hunting... ive located/ heard over a dozen dogs, but none were remotely close to being on my farms. Killed 1 bobcat.
Checked my last farm this morn, located from the road at 0520 with a howl, and this guy barked back about 600y away. Made the rounds from the road to locate more before daylight, but nothing else on this farm.
Got set up 300y away right from the one who barked at legal shoot light, played a single howl, no resonse... figured he was coming. Gave him 5 minutes, then played 'poundtown' (pair fighting) and came in to 80y where I dropped him.
BIG male, low 40lbs i would guess. He was by himself.
Made 2 more blind sets on the other end of this farm, but nothing.
I've got one last hunt this eve for this trip, gonna see if I can pull a small pack onto me I located Saturday night at another location.
Year round pressure on them has really kept the population down, and away from my farms.... either that or they have become extremely call shy.
