My son and a buddy went out this evening after school for a quick hunt. He calls me a short time later to tell me they had jumped a couple of does and while moving in for a shot they see 2 bucks fighting off in the distance. One was a wide 6 pointer and the other was a really tall main frame 8 with a "bunch of junk" including a large dagger pointing back off one side. Instead of one of them shooting they were trying to get into position so they would both get a shot at them. Needless to say neither got a shot a both walked off into a thicket. Now, how would you go about hunting these boys? Would you rattle and grunt or just sit in the area and see what happens?

That's what I told him, just to sit and wait them out. And yes this is in Sullivan county on private land. He has put in alot of scouting and was getting a little mad because he has found giant rubs but hasnt put eyes on them until today. Now he doesn't know which one he would rather try for the wide 6 or the tall "freak".

I rattled a nice 8 point in for my daughter's mother two days ago. She dropped him and successfully added her first deer on her list of kills. Post-rut, bucks fight over the doe's that havnt been bred yet.

I had to read it twice to make sure I was understanding what it said.. Lol

I'd hunt both of the deer and not be picky this close to the end of the season.. I wouldn't try and call.. Never works for me..
