Evening hunts I often am somewhere near a field but inside the woods trying to catch em on their way to feed in the field

Depends on time of the season. During peak chasing I like fields. I'm more likely to see chasing and get a shot. Early season I prefer fields in the evening vs the morning. Hunted fields in my cozy box blind all weekend and didn't have as much success cause bucks are not chasing does into the fields. Deer in my area are still primarily browsing mast in the woods. They will browse fields late evening/night.

Never hunted a field so thickets for me. Now if I did have a place with both I would still hunt a thicket but close enough to see into the field somewhat but will be mainly looking into the thicket.

I have VERY RARELY ever hunted fields. Usually only late season with a rifle busting does when most of the good food in the woods are picked over. Don't much like sitting over a field. I think it's boring. That doesn't mean it can't be very productive though.

Cat man has it right. Deer came into food plot yesterday evening right at dusk. You need to get back in a ways and catch them heading that way if possible.

I'm in a field right now. I've had much success in fields over the years and primarily in the evenings. I've been fortunate enough to take some goods bucks in fields/field lines when they were either coming to feed or trailing does. Good luck!
