Fields - Best Luck in Morning or Evening

I have had decent luck killing does sitting on a field in the morning. Just curious what your thoughts are on seeing bucks coming into fields. Morning or evening?

My bucks never come into fields. They always lurk 30 yards into the treeline and wait till dark. So all my stands are tucked back in brush where I can still shoot the field but it's harder shots. Only bucks I've ever killed in fields were in the mornings.

Had an 8 pt this morning come and scent check a field I was sitting on. 2 does in the field. He walked within 20 yards of the edge, waited 2-3 minutes for checking and then trotted back exactly where he came from. I had the right field, just wrong spot as he was behind a ton of brush at 40 yards.

I see bucks on fields all the time, especially grown up fields not being planted.

The buck above was last Wednesday at 8:15 am.

I don't think I have enough experience to say this is a scientific hypothesis, but I would say mornings for fields. I have only seen 1 small buck in the field in the evening, but I have seen several bucks in the fields early.

Oddly enough last week I was in the trees about 40 yards in or so because everybody told me to get off the fields last year because I wasn't seeing deer and every deer I saw Friday was along the field edge or in the beans lol

Early archery and I'd say fields in the evening. Now that the rut is near or happening in some places you might see a buck cruising or chasing at any time. Overall, if a buck is with a doe I think that doe will bed down by midmorning. That buck is going to stick with her and probably won't rise until she does towards late afternoon. Even if a buck is alone during the rut on several occasions I've seen them bed by themselves midmorning and not rise again anywhere from an hour before sunset until just about sundown. So-o-o-o, nothing's set in stone. Again during the rut you might see a buck at any time and I know there have been a lot of midday bucks taken but generally speaking, if you haven't seen much action by 10AM I'd bet on late evening. This seems to point towards the bigger, older bucks.

For me fields are way more productive in the morning. In the evenings, I only see deer in fields after sunset and then it's typically 15 to 20 minutes after sunset. The very last legal minutes is when it almost always happens if it's going to at all in the evening. And deer don't stand around in any of my fields like they do in some places. They move though nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

When it's on (rut), get where you can see as much as possible. Therefore fields. Otherwise I hunt woods in the morning and fields in the evening until the acorns are gone

Personally for me fields have always been better in the afternoons. That goes for everywhere I hunt. Where I currently hunt you seriously might as well stay home if you plan on hunting the woods in the afternoon. It is DEAD. I remember one day last year I saw 32 total deer in a little holler one morning. Went and ate lunch and went back and didn't see a thing in the afternoon.

With that being said I think I will spend Saturday morning on a little 6 acre CRP field where I live. Monday morning headed to work at 6:30 on of the biggest bucks I have ever seen jumped out of the CRP onto the gravel driveway chasing does.

For me if the run is going on the morning is good for fields. Rarely see bucks in the fields in the evening!

Really according to several factors but for me which is not often the evening hunt was always better .

All 3 of my wall hangers came from afternoon field hunts. I hunt the woods alot more now and had better luck in fields.

Our family field doesn't see much morning activity. But sit town at 4:00, they come out at 4:30

I never heard much about it....the folks in that community have been keeping pretty tight tabs on everything since that season. I was told to not worry about it.
