16 inch 9 twist,,would the 64 gr win soft poins be a good choice for deer,,and with the fold down rear sight would the 1x4 Leupold be a good woods deer scope that would double as a battle sight on 1x,,mounted on QR Leuplod mounts on blocks high enough to see through with the M4 stock,and for quick take off if needed the open sights

That rate of twist should stabilize that weight bullet. Limit shots to the ribs behind the shoulder. Scope should work fine, too.

Prepare to get your ears rung when you fire that shorty without hearing protection in the woods, but yep, all that should work fine. My 1:9 Bushmaster shoots 62 gr Barnes TSX very well.

My 14.5" SBR (1/9 twist) puts the Federal 64grn soft point into a nice little 3/4" group at 100yrds. Keep them off the shoulder and they are a deer killing machine.

We have killed 2 deer with the Win 64g PP bullets. My youngest killed a button buck out of his TC G2 and I killed a small doe last year out of a Stevens 200. The bullets seemed to work ok in a sample of 2. Both were pass throughs in the chest area. His fell over and mine ran about 15 yards or so and fell over. The Stevens has a 1/9 twist but I am not sure about the G2. It may be a 1/10. Anyway they probably work as well as the premium bullets at 1/2 the price. I haven't tried any in my AR but think they would work fine. Plateau Hunter

I have used the 70gr TSX bullets to good effect in a 1 in 8, I would say the 62gr would be great in a 1 in 9 twist. You need a tough bullet when you have that small a bullet, as said before avoid the shoulders, the neck, heart/lung or spine would be my choice.
