Food Plots Fertilize when sowing?

Do most of you fertilize as you sow or wait til after germination? If you do it at the same time do you actually mix the seed in with the fertilizer?

Imo dont mix it. The weight difference in fertilizer and seed we got strips anytime we have done it. We fertilize when its a couple inches tall.

Same, I don't fertilize until I know I have a good stand already started. Just too expensive to throw all over your dirt if nothing you planted is going to grow.

Wait till you see germination . Fertilize rt before a rain if possible.

I've fertilized many crops at planting if I thought rain was solid and I already had great soil moisture.

But to be safe wait til you get the desired
stand then fertilize when rain is solid

Also depends on how you plan to plant

I often fertilize right after spreading seed, just ahead of a rain. Have also waited until right after I have germination, but then I kind of hate running over those fresh sprouts.

Best way to ensure healthy growth is to make sure you have proper soil amendment in your pH requirements. I've never considered fertilizing until you're in the growth stage.
