Feeding/Fertilizing

What do you do post planting for feeding/fertilizing your gardens?

I usually put in a little 10-10-10 around planting time but here we are a month or more later and I'm wanting to make sure as fruit is forming I am ensuring the plants aren't wanting for anything.

I usually "feed" about a month after my seeds sprout, then again when the plants start to put on fruit. [okra, tomatoes, squash, peppers, etc] With my corn I wait untill the stalks are about knee high to feed then again when it starts putting on ears. I use 6-12-12 and "side dress" the corn.
I'm not sure if this is the correct way to do it but i've been using this method for many, many years and as long as I get enough rain my garden always does well. Be careful to not get any of the fertilizer on the plants as it will burn them.

Try to keep the weeds under control as they do compete for nutrients and moisture. Mulch is a good way to keep the weeds at bay it also keeps the moisture in the soil. If you can't mulch try to keep the soil between the rows loosened up as much as possible that will help keep any new weed seeds from sprouting.
Most of the time gardeners are at the mercy of Mother Nature. [drought, late frost, wind, etc] I am fortunate that my garden is within a stones throw of a very good spring that as far as I can remember has never gone dry. I purchased a pump and some sprinkler heads several years ago and now I can water whenever my plants need it.
Good luck, there is not much better than eating fresh veggies out of your own garden.
